CCI WB-1 Ink Degradent/Mild Stain Remover - 1 Gallon
High-solvency, water-soluble ink degradent and mild stain remover designed for removing multiple ink types, reducing ghost images, and supporting manual, recirculating, dip tank, and automatic screen-cleaning applications.
Characteristics
CCI WB-1 Ink Degradent / Mild Stain Remover is a professional water-soluble screen wash formulated for removing a wide range of screen printing inks while helping protect screen mesh from deep staining and ghost images.
WB-1 is highly effective on plastisol, water-based, multi-purpose solvent-based, poster, UV, and vinyl inks. Its high-solvency cleaning action helps break down stubborn ink residue while making screens easier to completely reclaim after production.
In addition to its ink-removal capabilities, WB-1 works as an effective plastisol ink haze and ghost-image remover. The non-corrosive formulation aggressively attacks image stains remaining in the mesh, making it useful as both a routine ink degradent and a mild stain-removal solution.
WB-1 provides excellent versatility for professional screen-cleaning operations. It can be used manually with a scrub pad or spray bottle as well as in recirculating screen-cleaning systems, dip tanks, immersion processes, pneumatic pump systems, and automatic reclaiming equipment.
For manual ink removal, excessive ink should first be carded from the screen. WB-1 is then applied to the ink side and agitated on both sides of the screen using a non-abrasive brush or pad. The screen can then be thoroughly rinsed using high-pressure water.
When used as a haze or stain remover, WB-1 is applied after the ink and emulsion have been removed. The product is worked into both sides of the mesh and allowed to dwell for several minutes depending on the severity of the stain before high-pressure rinsing.
WB-1 combines low odor, high solvency, and high load capacity with a mesh-safe formulation, making it a versatile cleaning chemical for production screen rooms handling multiple ink systems.

Ink Wash / Manual Cleaning
- Card or scrape excessive ink from the screen before applying WB-1.
- Apply WB-1 to the ink side of the screen.
- Use a non-abrasive scrub brush or pad to agitate the ink on both sides of the screen.
- Allow the cleaner sufficient contact time to penetrate and loosen stubborn ink residue.
- High-pressure rinse the screen thoroughly to remove the loosened ink and chemical residue.
- Start pressure washing at the bottom of the screen and work upward. This helps prevent loosened ink from locking back onto the mesh when it contacts rinse water.
Stain / Haze Removal
- Remove the ink and emulsion from the screen before beginning the stain-removal process.
- Apply WB-1 to both sides of the screen.
- Scrub both sides using a non-abrasive brush or pad.
- Allow WB-1 to dwell for several minutes depending on the severity of the stain.
- For stubborn cured stains, allow a minimum dwell time of approximately 3 minutes.
- High-pressure rinse both sides of the screen, beginning at the bottom and working upward.
- Repeat the process when necessary for particularly difficult ghost images or staining.
Recirculating Cleaning
- Card excessive ink from the screen before placing it into the cleaning process.
- WB-1 can be continuously recirculated until the cleaning solution becomes excessively contaminated with ink solids.
- Used WB-1 may be filtered and reused when appropriate.
- Monitor cleaning performance and replace heavily contaminated solution as necessary.
