Aquarius Migration Stop - 1 Gallon
Professional water-based dye-blocking underbase engineered to minimize dye migration on polyester fabrics and blends, providing a reliable first-down barrier for high-solids and digital hybrid printing applications.
Characteristics
Aquarius™ Migration Stop is a specialty water-based barrier ink from Avient Specialty Inks designed to help prevent garment dyes from migrating into printed colors. It is particularly useful when decorating 100% polyester and polyester-blend fabrics that are susceptible to dye bleed. Migration Stop is designed for use with Zodiac™ Aquarius™ water-based ink systems on polyester fabrics and blends.
Migration Stop is applied as the first-down layer, creating a barrier between the dyed fabric and subsequent ink layers. This helps protect whites, light colors, and digitally printed graphics from discoloration caused by polyester dyes migrating during the printing and curing process.
The product can also be incorporated into digital hybrid printing systems, where Migration Stop is printed first on bleed-prone polyester, followed by Aquarius Digital White or other compatible Aquarius ink layers. This makes it a versatile solution for both conventional water-based screen printing and advanced hybrid production workflows.
Because polyester dyes and garment constructions can vary considerably, the actual production garment should always be tested before beginning a full run. Testing should confirm migration resistance, adhesion, opacity, curing conditions, and the finished appearance of the complete ink system.
- Water-based dye-migration barrier ink
- Designed as a first-down underbase
- Helps minimize dye migration and unwanted color bleed
- Recommended for 100% polyester and polyester-blend garments
- Compatible with Zodiac™ Aquarius™ high-solids water-based inks
- Suitable for digital hybrid screen-printing workflows
- Helps maintain cleaner whites and more accurate printed colors
- Provides a barrier between bleed-prone garment dyes and subsequent ink layers
- Suitable for professional textile screen-printing production
- Available in a 1 Gallon container size
- Aquarius High Solids Inks: Compatible for subsequent color and white printing layers
- Aquarius Digital White: Can be applied over Migration Stop in compatible digital hybrid printing workflows
- Print Aquarius Migration Stop as the first layer directly onto the garment when working with polyester fabrics prone to dye migration.
- Use approximately 86–110 threads/in (34–43 threads/cm) mesh as a starting range.
- For digital hybrid applications, a 110 threads/in (43 threads/cm) mesh can be used for the Migration Stop layer.
- Flash the Migration Stop layer before applying subsequent ink layers when required by the production process.
- Follow Migration Stop with the appropriate Aquarius white, base, high-solids, or digital hybrid ink system.
- For digital hybrid production, Migration Stop can be followed by Aquarius Digital White before subsequent digital printing layers.
- Maintain sufficient ink deposit to create an effective barrier between the garment dye and subsequent printed colors.
- Always test the actual polyester garment before production because dye systems and garment construction can vary considerably.
- Verify migration resistance, adhesion, opacity, curing conditions, and finished appearance before beginning a full production run.
Polyester dye migration can vary significantly between garment styles, colors, dye systems, and manufacturers. Migration Stop is designed to help minimize unwanted dye bleed, but the actual production garment should always be tested before beginning a full production run.
Print Migration Stop as the first-down barrier layer so that it separates the bleed-prone polyester fabric from subsequent white, color, or digital printing layers.
For digital hybrid applications, Migration Stop can be printed first, flashed, and followed with Aquarius Digital White and subsequent digital print layers. Verify migration resistance, adhesion, opacity, cure, and finished appearance using the complete production ink system.
