SKU CCI-P-CHARGE-G

Specialty plastisol additive designed to convert compatible plastisol inks into a plastisol/discharge hybrid, producing bright, crisp colors and an exceptionally soft hand on dischargeable dyed garments.

Characteristics

CCI EnviroLine® P-Charge Plastisol Additive / Discharge Ink is a specialty screen printing additive formulated to make plastisol inks perform like water-based discharge inks. It allows printers to achieve the soft feel and appearance associated with discharge printing while continuing to work with their existing compatible plastisol ink system.

P-Charge is mixed 1:1 with plastisol ink to create the base mixture. CCI D-Powder discharge activator is then added at 3% to 6% by weight and thoroughly mixed until dissolved. Once activated, the mixture has a pot life of up to 24 hours, allowing adequate production time while helping minimize unnecessary ink waste.

During printing, the activated ink removes compatible garment dye while depositing color into the discharged area. This produces bright, crisp prints with a significantly softer hand than conventional plastisol printing, making P-Charge particularly useful for fashion-forward and retail-quality garment decoration.

P-Charge is designed to print wet-on-wet without flash curing between colors. CCI recommends using heavy squeegee pressure to drive the ink into the garment and a mesh range of 110 to 175 threads per inch for best results. Water-resistant emulsions should be used when printing with the system.

For proper discharge activation and wash durability, CCI specifies curing for a minimum of 90 seconds at 320°F (160°C). Adequate dwell time is important because evaporating the water too quickly can interrupt the discharge reaction and produce duller colors.

P-Charge offers low odor, high opacity, easy cleanup, excellent color and wash fastness, and resistance to dry cleaning and ironing. The formulation is PVC- and phthalate-free and is listed by CCI as CPSIA compliant.

Because garment dyes vary, not every fabric or color will discharge successfully. Always test the complete ink mixture on the actual production garment before beginning a production run.

Usage Tips
  • Mix P-Charge and compatible plastisol ink at a 1:1 ratio and stir thoroughly until the mixture reaches an even consistency.
  • Add CCI D-Powder at 3% to 6% by weight and mix until the activator is completely dissolved.
  • Activate only the amount of ink required for the current production run.
  • Avoid high-speed mixers that can generate excessive heat and begin curing the ink in the container.
  • Use 110–175 mesh for best results.
  • Use a water-resistant emulsion when preparing screens.
  • Apply heavy squeegee pressure to drive the ink into the garment.
  • Print wet-on-wet rather than flash curing between colors.
  • During extended production runs, lightly mist the screen with water if the ink begins drying or increasing in viscosity.
  • Water can be used as a reducer when necessary.
  • Cure for a minimum of 90 seconds at 320°F (160°C) to properly activate the discharge chemistry and produce a washable print.
  • Avoid removing water too quickly during curing, as this can interfere with the discharge reaction and result in dull colors.
  • Always test the ink mixture on the actual garment before production because not all garment dyes are dischargeable.
  • Test individual plastisol colors for compatibility; P-Charge can affect certain colors, particularly reds and magentas.
  • Verify cure, color, wash fastness, and overall print quality before beginning full production.
